Title: Skullgirls - XBL and PSN Contact and Feedback Thread
Post by: Glassy123 on April 11, 2012, 06:39:38 PM
Game should be out 2nite, use this thread for contacts and feedback from either system :D

XBL: Glassy123

I'll have it tonight, and I wana use nurse joy :P

Edit: There's no move list in the game at this stage, download the PDFs below. The Xbox 360 and ps3 list give a controller movelist, whereas the arcade option is for fightsticks.

yeah, was 9.98/10.00 netcode.
but like if your expecting to play against ppl overseas, its not going to work properly like actual ggpo on pc.
i reckon anything under 100 ping runs good, anything over is nothing like ggpo or backbone entertainment, its all slowdown.
i hope it gets patched as i would like to vs some Japanese and u.s like on real ggpo.

I really like the feel and flow of this game so far, loving valentine, got some good mixups with her already, not sure on a 2nd yet (if any).

Shame about the 360 servers being down 2nite, apparently it's microsofts problem.

How's everyone else finding it?

I don't like the art style of the game but I like the way it plays, I'll pick it up when I get the time.

Does it feel like there is a distinct advantage of playing 1, 2 or 3 chars atm? I'm thinking the added health of 3 chars and having 2 assists would be better.

Also I heard something about having a recordable assist function, anyone tried it out?

At the moment, one character seems to be the week 1 top tier simply because it's the easiest to get the benefit out of it (free damage + more health) but I think as the game gets played out a bit more we'll see some really silly things with assists. I mean, you get access to EVERY MOVE a character has. I played a few with BK this morning who had the equiv of a Psylocke AA assist behind him and that was just wrecking my shit for a good while. The only problem with assists i've found at the moment is that they're completely vulnerable after they do what they do, they just sorta hang around and say something before they disappear. Of course if your point character is blocking you can punish any swings at the assist character (screw it up and you're eating a happy birthday though).

As for the recordable assist, it's handled on the character select. You literally just input the move you want and it'll record it. It's awesome

i recommend not using 3 character teams and starting off with 2 character teams.
once you get used to the game you can experiment, wait for some technology or some structure advice for a team with 3.
3 character teams get hurt quite a bit and do poorish damage but then you get two assists.
i can see some keepaway teams with 3 characters.
1 character teams are alright because the game is new, but later things might change.
also assists arent instant like, when they come in you have a chance to attack and after they do their move you can hit them.

More regions are going to be added, one of the devs or someone high in the community team or whatever posts on Neogaf, an Australian already asked for an Aus/NZ region... he didn't say yes to that but did say more regions are coming.

About the team size, damage is ridiculous on solo cerebella but I think the best set up will end up being a duo with really strong synergy. A trio character just seems easy to kill.

Yea ggs ages

Learnt a lot in that session

Your combos and mixups are looking pretty sick so far, and once you get in I'm having trouble noting when your strings are going to end, I'll have to pay more attention. One thing I was thinking while playing was that if I could do the dp motion more reliably, your habit of jumping after a string might be a problem. I was trying out cerebella's run moves a lot in the second set and they seem pretty powerful as mix-up or defense, though I gotta avoid the full screen ones where my follow-up gets stuffed with a jab.
Title: Re: Skullgirls- XBL and PSN Contact and Feedback Thread
Post by: Glassy123 on April 12, 2012, 10:37:34 PM
yeah i noticed those run setups, that finger one especially was brutal!  :P

cerebella is scary up close, hence the reason why I would end strings with a jump into dash mixup, but after u started AA grabing me or run bashing me I started backdashing, which youd punish with that huge punch >_< fun little mind games going on there.

valentine has some sweet combos, although I dont think im getting the full potential out of most things, I'll have to wait for some combo videos to come out, sucks having no tech roll option in training, some of the combos I found and wanted to use were techable and I didnt even know untill our matches, hopefully that gets patched in soon.

oh, and I finally landed that counter  ;D hehe

So here I am sitting and wishing I had more time to play Skullgirls and not be swamped with uni work and I'm guessing I'll play Cerebella since "Oh, she doesnt have crazy air-dash/doublejump combos and things I'll have to master, she'll be straight forward enough." Then I find she has Run-Stop loops with her charge B,F+LK~LK  :'(

If I weren't so busy, this game would be the best thing ever.

GGs Age of Fools, my training-room-monsterness really showed in the first like 10 games before I realized Parasoul's s.LP whiffed on crouching so all my LOOPZ failed. I've played against someone offline running Peacock/Double Dat Ass and it was horribly lame keepout and it was just as frustrating when you were running Cerebella/DatAss as a rushdown strat.

It got a bit laggy at the end and you kept throwing out random Double Bionic Cars that I was punishing.  :-\

Yeah, I was pretty much panicking whenever I had just Double.

That assist you use really fits with Parasoul it seems. I can't quite figure out how to get out of her blockstrings.
Title: Re: Skullgirls- XBL and PSN Contact and Feedback Thread
Post by: ATB|CoolzHAMYOLO on April 19, 2012, 02:53:55 AM
When I had you in the corner a few times, I managed to do a few chains on you that you didn't pushblock, I think if you pushblock during either the MP hit or the first slash of the HP,HP chain, the second hit might whiff... but then if I have an orb out that hasn't exploded you might get hit in punishing. But then she has options if I notice you're push blocking... I'm really not sure tbh, I haven't played against another Parasoul or against that many people.

Unsure if this is common knowledge or not but if you hit Parasoul or make her tech a throw (not sure about throw-tech part), all her orbs/mines out on the field disappear. But if she blocks they don't.

its pretty effective, but i think u need a good 'get off me-ima combo u now sucker' assist otherwise chars like valentine, felia and ms fortune will just rush u down pretty effectively.

btw some really nice games here:

Looks like a balance patch is incoming, at least 2 weeks away, probably more like a month.

Mike Z talks about the build as it currently is here http://www.twitch.tv/themixup/b/318884964 at around the 2:50:00 mark. The main changes I took note of:

Australia has its own region (yay).

HK Hornet Bomber assist no longer has invincibility, all Hornet Bombers's knockdowns are techable (but still ground bounce).

Tournament mode forces button checks before character select, and automatically goes to controller selection when a controller is unplugged after a match.

The IPS (infinite protection system) considers crouching and standing and command normals as the same button, so you cannot use c.lp, lp, c.lk, lk to start chains in one combo.
Title: Re: Skullgirls- XBL and PSN Contact and Feedback Thread
Post by: Taasi23 on May 21, 2012, 11:57:50 PM
Sorry for being so late to the party but:
1. I love this game.
2. I suck at this game.
3. I can not, for the life of me, find a game with anybody other than the two friends on my list who have it.

So if you share points 1 and 3 (or wish to exploit point 2), then Taasi23 (PSN) is down for a match or two.

P.S. Maybe it's just me, but are any other Marvel players getting screwed up by Skullgirls being 6 buttons? I keep on doing raw launchers, thinking that it's a crouching short (which is a real problem for the two-thirds of my team that aren't Wesker  ;D ).

I'm down for some Skullgirls on PSN right now! -Taasi23

Yeah, I just copied and pasted that from my post yesterday, but it's still true tonight. If not true-er! I'm getting so sick of playing arcade mode, and I'm pretty sure the bull$#!% I get away with against the CPU isn't going to work against somebody who actually knows what they're doing. Certainly not twice.

Speaking of whoch, after a few weeks of post-release play, what's everybody here using? I'm really enjoying the two-character team of Peacock and Double. Peacock's educed meter gain during death from above isn't really hurting me, and since most of her combos are fullscreen and straight into Argus, I don't mind wasting the OTG immediately after the butt-slam. It's weird, because I've almost never played a zoning game in Marvel, but the sheer number and variety of projectiles that Peacock can use to fill the screen has really drawn me to her as a character. Also, she's the only one with a teleport. And a beam super. I don't think I could play this type of game without a teleport and a beam super. Huh... I just realised that Peacock is Dorm without the flight... ;D

Anybody else enjoying bullet hell (or, more appropriately, bomb hell)?

Can't wait until this comes out on PC, looking forward to playing some of you ps3 guys.

I think I'm going to stick to solo ms fortune, I was using valentine + parasol but fortune is just to fun, + her head acts as an assist which negates a 2nd char giving me more damage and health

GGs to you too! The connection, while occasionally fuzzy, was mostly fine. It's nice to see Hornet Bomber being used as an assist for rushdown, as I've only really been using it for zoning. Once your Valentine got on my Peacock, it was really hard to find any breathing space.

I need to work on landing my Double combos against something other than a punching bag! :D

EDIT: ...and I just re-read the words "Once you Valentine got on my Peacock,"...

Screw it, I'm leaving it like that. ;)

ggs spoony, you should try out fortune if she interests you, she's pretty simple if you keep her head on, and with the head off you can get a really deep solo character. Otherwise, I would suggest trying out other assists on cerebella (diamond drop or cerecopter are amazing with parasoul).

GGs to Tassi. Your assist timing is on point. Took me a while to realisise i needed to be patient . I really need to get on a decent level with another character. Cerebella on her own just can't cope with Peacock.

GGs indeed, Trejo! I think the assist timing is the most naturally transferable skill from playing Marvel. While the rest of the game moves at a slower, more methodical pace, the assist recovery time is pretty darn fast.

Your solo Cera scared the crap outta me! That match where you happy birthday'd me couldn't have lasted more than 10 seconds. I think I was just fortunate enough to be rocking a team that seems to be an effective counter to a solo character.

ASSISTS FTW!!! :D

This bat man speaks the truth!

This game is too awesome to be so underplayed. I'm hoping that cross-platform play with the PC version and the inclusion of Australia as a region in the patch (in addition to every other improvement being made to this already incredible game) will re-invigorate the local online activity.

Once again, I am Taasi23 on PSN, and if I'm within a few feet of my PS3 odds are I'm down for some Skullgirls action.

If the 2.0 fixes (speed, assist nerfs and combo lengths) actually play a major role in adjusting the pace of the game I think this game will pick up more than it did. For me the combo lengths are what's putting the game in the Blazblue combos for days with very little actual playing category.

Combos? What combos? I play Peacock.  ;D

Seriously, though, I think I recall Mike Z saying that the adjustments to the IPS will make combos "on average take half as long and deal 20% less damage", or something like that.

I'm actually amazed how much they're changing in the patch. I think it's bigger than AE -> AE2012. And et, after readig three pages worth of patch notes, I couldn't find a single point that I thought wouldn't make playing Skullgirls a more competitive and enjoyable experience. I haven't been this excited since I found out about My LittlePony: Fighting is Magic (which was, admittedly, 10 days ago).

I'm really happy about the changes. Faster gameplay, and combos that don't last 10 years? Count me in.

I honestly haven't played this game for awhile. Was hoping it would catch on in Melbourne but the showing at a CW tournament I went to was pretty small. Are people still playing? Is the patch finished and available yet?

I do believe the patch is still in the Sony/Microsoft testing phase, so with any luck it'll be here in a couple o' weeks. In the meantime, you should totally play the game, guys.

Looking for people to play against. I'm on both PSN and XBL as Daznf but have no Live.
I'm pretty scrubby.

From what I've gathered from the two posts made by employees anywhere for the last 4 weeks or so, there's apparentally some red tape/hiccups with the publishers and MS/Sony that are causing payment issues and thus delays. That's all we know.

In the meantime, the game's still pretty cool! Let's play it more!

I haven't played since Shadowloo. I dropped it for Acceleration of Suguri 2

(I'm pretty sure I've said yes. Hopefully my darn tax return comes in by then.)

Double post ahoy, but have some demonstrations of further changes coming in the (Autumn 2015 release date) patch for the game.
