Thanks for that Chill; I was incorrect re: fuzzy guard.
I really love this game but I feel I've hit a wall in terms of improvement.
Playing around with Taka, I now realise why people classify him an advanced character. I believe that his toolset is limited yet very high damage.
A key aspect of many characters, fuzzy guard, is also stuffed with Taka: he can only fuzzy guard up to -4 because his crouch dash is 6 frames.
Playing Taka requires solid fundamentals and a real understanding of the opponent's play style. My fundamentals are quite poor so I'm having trouble with the character.
I'm also experimenting with Pai. Pai's strength is in closing distance and constant poking pressure and I believe this could work for me, although her overall damage output is not high.
Her stances are also interesting and varied while not being too intense.
Her in and out style is causing me problems because I like to get in that ass and stay in there!!
This post wouldn't be complete without an interesting link and here it is:
Here you areIf your opponent tech rolls, there is a time (iirc a 5 frame window) where you can hit them and they can't do anything (meaning the only possible scenarios are guard or eat a hit). Every character in the game is covered in that video.
MadeMan you sneaky little fucker you've been doing this to me with Goh!!!
In general playing new characters is quite frustrating as I often believe I could have punished using my main. But it's forcing me to learn different aspects of the game which can only be beneficial in the long run.
Melbourne watch out; we're out to prove you're a one man state!!!
