Tournament Announcements / [SYD] YSB #28 - 7th February
« on: January 18, 2015, 01:28:28 AM »

Hi everyone,

Please sign up above so we can gauge numbers on the day. We'll be offering an entry fee refund to a lucky person who does sign up here. For OzHadou forum members, all you need to do is click "Sign Up". If you are browsing as a guest at the moment, we recommend you to sign in with your OzHadou forum account if possible. Otherwise, simply type your game handle and the game you play in the comments section. Suspicious guest sign-ups will be ignored in the draw.

Details
Date: Saturday, 10th January 2015
Time: 11:30am - 10:30pm
Location: Red Room, Level 1, 99 York St Sydney NSW 2000
Entry Fee: $15

The doors will open at 11.30am so we can start setting up. If bringing setups, it is recommended to arrive at this time so we can help coordinate the space and power requirements for the setups on the day. Also, if you plan on parking downstairs you will have more chance of getting a spot if you're early.

Players are free to move about any game and any setup for casual games, though in the interest of fairness and ensuring everyone gets games in, please restrict casual matches to the best of three games if anyone else is waiting to play. Winner stays on. Please be considerate of others and ask if any onlookers whether they would like to play games.

While OzHadou and other communities are providing gear throughout the day, DIY setups are welcome for all games, listed or otherwise; the more setups, the more games for everyone on the day!

What is YSB?
YSB stands for York Street Battles - Sydney’s monthly gathering for all fighting games, which is supported for the players by the players. It is held at the central venue of 99 on York St in Sydney’s CBD.

Casual play, exhibitions and tournaments are all welcomed and encouraged on the day on a multitude of OzHadou and DIY set up games. Tournaments are optional, and will be run if there are sufficient numbers/interest on the day, with casual play taking up the majority of the event.

All players, communities and games are welcome - if there is a game which is not listed for DIY, please feel free to come and bring a setup - YSB is the ideal place to get people playing and interested!

Please note that YSB requires you to bring your own controller. Below for more details.

BYOC - Bring Your Own Controller
Spoiler for Hidden:
Setups provided by OzHadou for casual and tournament play will not have any controllers (sticks/pads). If playing on these setups, you will need to supply your own stick or pad. There will be no spare controllers available.

There may be sticks and/or pads being unused on the day by other players, and borrowing with permission or prior arrangement while permitted, is not advised due to potential availability issues - for example, you may be playing a tournament match against each other, or at the same time. It is therefore highly recommended to bring your own controller regardless; most sticks and pads will easily fit in a small backpack for the event.

OzHadou setups are all Xbox360s running on BenQ LCD and LED monitors. Please consult other groups’ organisers with regards to any other controllers needed on the day.

Registration
Signups will be taken at the front of the Red Room by the YSB organisers - David (kyokugen), Henry (Genxa), Jonathan (Jarop), Will (azuzu) or Youssef (FaYd). Please stop by at the front desk before moving onto playing casual/tournament games.

In addition to entry fees, tournament fees will be collected for games running on OzHadou equipment, i.e. SSF4:AE2012, and UMVC3. Any other tournaments will be arranged by their respective communities.

Games Present
 - Ultra Street Fighter IV (OzHadou / XBOX360)
 - Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 (OzHadou / XBOX360)
 - King of Fighters XIII (DIY / XBOX360)
 - Injustice: Gods Among Us (DIY / PS3)

3:30pm - King of Fighters XIII
3:30pm - Injustice: Gods Among Us
4:30pm - Ultra Street Fighter IV

Tournament attendance is optional and will be run if there is sufficient numbers and interest on the day.

Tournament fees for CAPCOM games is $5. Tournament fees for DIY games is dependant on the organiser's decision of the respective DIY tournament. Games with free tournament entry are noted above.

How to Get There
Directions to the venue may be found at the link below:
http://www.99onyork.com.au/how-to-get-here

If catching public transport, get off at Town Hall Station or the Queen Victoria Building (QVB). When you arrive at 99 on York, head through the automatic doors on the right, which lead into the club, then walk up the stairs to level 1 and turn left.

Parking
Spoiler for Hidden:
All-day parking up til midnight is available at the venue for $15. A $5 discount may be attained with a 99onYork membership, which costs $10 a year (ask the front desk). Simply present the card to the staff at the car park office before using the payment machine to receive the discount.

Please note, as this is a valet service, keys to vehicles must be handed to the 99onYork staff while the car is parked in the car park. Due to this system at the venue, the car park may take some time to get into, or appear closed for periods. As mentioned previously, arriving early is recommended to minimise hassle.

Alternatives to this car park are as follows:

Tournament Announcements / [AUS] OHN12 BYO Equipment Thread
« on: August 26, 2014, 09:58:20 PM »
Hey all, let me control + C and then V. Added some little touches annnddd done.

We're making our usual call out to the community to those of your perhaps interested in contributing casual stations/setups for OHN 11.

Like last year, OzHadou will be providing a number of complete stations for both casual and tournament play, but as with any tournament numbers are up and more casual stations for games = more fun for everybody. At least, that's how the science goes.

(azuzu note: In regards to BYO casual setups, last year was an utter blow up except for KOF13. If anyone from the Marvel or USFIV community that cares about getting in more casual games and in general, spreading the love around so more folks can play more games in, please do what you can do and help. :) )

So, if you are able to contribute a setup for OHN's casual arena by all means sing out and let me know the details of what you can provide. In the interest of consistency, please use the following format to relay what you can bring to the table whether it be via a reply to this thread or a private message to myself:

Name:
Gaming handle:
Console type:
Supplied game(s):
Screen type:
Speakers:
Equipment labelled:
Notes:

So for example:

Name: Dude Guy
Gaming handle: Tekkensandwiches
Console type: Xbox 360
Supplied game(s): UNIEL, KOF, VF5FS
Screen type: BenQ E2400
Speakers: Yes
Equipment labelled: You bet your ass it is
Notes: I can't make Friday. I'd prefer my station was dedicated to UNIEL.

Each section should be self explanatory. Note the 'equipment labelled' section - this is important. While we do not have any recorded instances of equipment being stolen at OHN, we HAVE had some cases of folks picking up the wrong game discs and so on when packing gear up. This has NOT been the case for those with labelled gear.

In the notes area please also specify if you'd prefer your gear was dedicated to a specific game. For example, if you're bringing a setup and you're a Marvel fan - naturally you want it dedicated to the glory that which is Marvel and not something else like Skullgirls or Street Fighter. This will also allow us to gauge our balance of setups so we can shuffle the OzHadou console software accordingly.

If you have any questions, please fire away via a reply to this thread or via a private message. To those of you able to contribute setups to OHN - your generosity is much appreciated not just by those running OHN, but also by your fighting game peers. We all salute ye.

Tournament Announcements / [SYD] YSB #24 - 21st June
« on: June 04, 2014, 09:10:50 PM »

Hey all,

If you are reading this, please sign up above so we can gauge numbers on the day. We'll be offering an entry fee refund to a lucky person who does sign up here. For Ozhadou forum members, all you need to do is click "Sign Up". If you are browsing as a guest at the moment, we recommend you to sign in with your Ozhadou forum account if possible. Otherwise, typing your game name and game you play in the comments section is fine. Suspicious guest sign-ups will be ignored in the draw.

We'll also have Ultra Street Fighter IV ready on SFIV-dedicated Ozhadou setups waiting for you to play. :D

See you guys there!

Details
Date: Saturday, 21st June 2014
Time: 11:30AM - 10:30PM
Location: Red Room, Level 1, 99 York St Sydney NSW 2000
Entry Fee: $15

If you are interested in bringing DIY setups on the day, it is recommended to arrive at 11:30PM so organisers can help coordinate space and power requirements for extra setups on the day. Also, if you plan on parking downstairs - you will have more chance of getting a spot if you're early.

Players are free to move about any game and any setup for casual games, though in the interest of fairness and ensuring everyone gets games in, please restrict casual matches to best of three games if anyone else is waiting to play. Winner stays on. Please be considerate of others and ask if any onlookers whether they would like to play games.

While Ozhadou and other communities from their respective games provide gear through the day, extra DIY setups are most welcome for all games, listed or otherwise; the more setups, the more games for everyone on the day!

What is YSB?
YSB stands for York Street Battles - Sydney’s monthly gathering for all fighting games, which is supported for the players by the players. It is held at the central venue of 99 on York Street in Sydney’s CBD. All players, communities and games are welcome. Come along and enjoy the multitude of casual play from various games and exhibitions/tournaments run on the day!

If there is a game which is not listed for DIY, please feel free to come and bring a setup - YSB is the ideal place to get people playing and interested.

YSB is a Bring Your Own Controller (BYOC) event. Click below on 'BYOC' for more details. All Ozhadou setups all run on XBOX 360s with BenQ LCD and LED monitors. The consoles that DIY games run on are listed in 'Games Present' further down.

BYOC - Bring Your Own Controller
Spoiler for BYOC:
Worthy to note that setups provided by Ozhadou for casual and tournament play will not have controllers (sticks/pads) provided by Ozhadou. If playing on these setups, it is expected to bring your own controller (arcade stick or pad).

This also applies to DIY games.

While there may be arcade sticks and/or pads being unused on the day by other players, and borrowing with permission or prior arrangement while permitted, is not advised due to potential availability issues - for example, you may be playing a tournament match against each other or at the same time. It is therefore highly recommended to bring your own controller regardless; do not assume there will be any spare on the day. The good news is most sticks and pads can easily fit and be in a small backpack to the venue on most forms of transport.

In addition to entry fees, tournament fees will be collected for games running on Ozhadou equipment, that is, Ultra Street Fighter IV and Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3. Any other tournaments will be arranged by their respective communities if and only if a tournament fee is required.

Details
Date: Saturday, 16th November 2013
Time: 2pm til late
Location: Good Games Town Hall, 222 Clarence St Sydney
Entry Fee: $15 / $10 past 6pm

Organisers: Kyokugen (David) and Will (me).  kyokugen will step out during the night however.

We will be holding a casual event at Good Games Town Hall this Saturday from 2pm onwards.

There are 4 store setups which will be divided evenly between games (determined by numbers). All games are welcome to be played - we will be supplying our own gear for KOF/VF setups, but if anyone wants to play anything else, BYO is encouraged, with a $5 discount applied for players bringing monitors/consoles/laptops (arrive before 6pm, approved in this thread).

The majority of the space will be available to us for the event. We are looking into running sessions at GGS Town Hall like this at least once a month, and the possibility of more frequent meets, so we urge anyone who wants offline casuals/tournaments to attend and check the space out.

The event is also BYOC (bring your own controller). While there are two spare store controllers available at the venue, to ensure there are no shortages, an additional $5 fee will be charged to players who do not supply their own controller to the venue.

Public Transport
Good Games Town Hall is approximately 1~2 minutes walk from Town Hall station.

Parking
Parking is located less than 100m away from the venue via Wilson Parking.
Cost is $15 until 12am, $12.50 when booked online.
http://www.wilsonparking.com.au/go/wilson-car-parks/nsw/st-martins-tower

BYO Registry
2x BENQ E2420HD (KOF/VF)
2x BENQ GW2450HM (KOF/VF)
1x 360 (KOF/VF) + 2x 360 (KOF/VF)
1x 360 (KOF/VF)

If you are interested in coming or can bring gear, please post in this thread so we can get an idea of the numbers and how to set up the space. In order to allocate setups, please also specify any games you will be playing.

Hope to see everyone there!
