Tournament Announcements / Re: [SYD] YSB #23 - 17th May
« on: May 26, 2014, 12:03:47 AM »
what is the schedule of the next few YSB events?

I know there are people out there interested but they don't check the forums a week ahead and often miss out
After each YSB, the upcoming date is announced in the Post Event Discussion forum via results thread. According to that thread for this YSB, the next one will be on the 21st of June.

The official thread and signups go up more than two weeks before each event on the forums, and is typically relayed on Facebook groups via community organisers.

I haven't seen anything posted for a while in groups, or on the actual Ozhadou Facebook page, or this site's own blogging system/front page.  Would love to see this so it can be more easily shared around and gives those of us who want to support Ozhadou a way to promote it to Sydneysiders we know.

Hey Troy, after getting such a good response to the DOA5U side tournament at SS, including a bunch of Adelaide players, (Nerk, MiracleMilk, Jman and Pichy all did well), would you consider adding DOA5U to the lineup?
I know a chunk of the VF5FS players will also play this.  Cheers!

5
sailoo, it was good to meet you and the Injustice Sydney guys showed great support.

I recommend messaging genxa about the Ozhadou support as he is caretaker for the sticks.

6
Thank you everyone for making it to the event!  Despite some technical issues preventing use of the stage area, the fighters still brought energy and amazing, high level hype matches to EB Expo.  I've updated the Results post (Post 2) with the event final results as seen below.

Thank you in particular to Ozhadou's own Henry Sham aka Genxa for arranging the consoles themselves to plug into the monitor/headset setups provided.  I was pleased to see such strong support from Sydney players in particular, and hope you all continue to attend Ozhadou's YSB events (now with more Razer Atrox sticks as supplied this weekend).

Any questions, feedback, shoutouts, please continue to post here.  We aim to make this a stronger event next year and value your input.

my brother wants to do the injustice tournament, but t starts at 2, so does that means he has to [ay for both morning and afternoon sessions?

Hi Niah

The Marvel and Injustice tournaments on Friday have been moved to 1pm to allow for this, and we'll consider doing the same for Saturday, but it shouldn't be necessary, as only qualified players play on the Saturday - EG, they will all have 3-day passes.

So, Friday, 1pm, you can play, and if you qualify, you'll be granted a pass to play through the Saturday tournament.

First post updated with this news:

Consoles - Thanks to OZHADOU for supply of the tournament consoles at this event!
Arcade Sticks - Thanks to RAZER for equipping Ozhadou with x6 ATROX arcade sticks for this event.

Thanks to OHN's Genxa for taking delivery of these ahead of the show and helping organise the consoles. (we'll also use a couple of backup machines, and copies of games)

Remaining sticks will be BYO or community supplied. Pad players, recommend bringing your own and converter for Xbox if needed.

First post also updated with clarification on entry - simply, if you qualified already, your name will be on the list at the front entry, and if you have a ticket for Friday you can attend the tournament at the listed time and, should you qualify for Saturday, will be added to the player list if needed.

How to enter the event if you have qualified: You report to the foyer near the ticket box and let them know your name is on the Home Grown Gaming competitor list.

I missed out on the qualifers for dead or alive 5 ultimate in sydney can i still qualify at the eb expo? also would i need to bring in my own xbox 360 controller?

Yes, the idea of the Friday qualifiers is so you can just turn up to the Expo and qualify.  BYO controller is recommended, though we will be supplying arcade sticks for most/all of the setups.

Also will persona 4 arena be represented at all at the fighting game arena?

No Persona this time around.

10
Thats correct!  The organisers of each qualifier are sending me the names of the people who were awarded places and those names will be forwarded to EB, and you will be able to pick up your pass from front entry by giving your name as a competitor

11
Hi Gillbagz,

The tournament will be run on Xbox 360.  We'll endeavour to have the latest patched version.

Fighters Arena at EB Expo

EB Expo 2013 is about to hit, and like last year, there will be a Fighter's Arena segment to the Esports and competitive gaming schedule.  The Home Grown Gaming section will be under the main building this year, meaning a bigger space directly attached to the Expo, and a bigger prize slate - include cash, prizes and glory.
See last year's information including winner's list here http://forum.ozhadou.net/index.php?topic=7717.0

TOP 4 IN EACH QUALIFIED GAME PER QUALIFIER WILL RECEIVE A HOME GROWN GAMING PASS
PLUS! ENTRY DIRECTLY INTO THE TOP 16 FINALS ON SATURDAY

Last chance qualifiers take place on the Friday of EB Expo. Players with passes will have their names on the list at the EB Expo foyer/entry area. See full list in next post.

Tournament Entry list here: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0Ag49T6UypAPLdEFsMmF1T0hQX0lRTExLajhvSWN1MXc&usp=sharing

How to enter the event if you have qualified: You report to the foyer near the ticket box and let them know your name is on the Home Grown Gaming competitor list.

Tournaments

Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3
Injustice: Gods Among Us
Virtua Fighter 5 Final Showdown
King of Fighters
Dead or Alive 5 Ultimate

(Tekken has not been forgotten; info is the Tekken scene will have their own championship and plan to focus on that)

There will be qualifier events in Melbourne, Sydney, and Brisbane (Adelaide TBC)

Dates / locations

Melbourne -
Shadowlogic, September 7
www.shadowloo.com

Sydney -
Ozhadou York St Battles, September 21
www.ozhadou.net

Brisbane -

These qualifiers will run some or all of the games, and record all names for top 4 and a backup to top 8 for all six games for top 4 pass-down if they can't attend.

Will allocate entry passes for 24 players (6 games, top 4) per qualifier, but bear in mind - players will need to arrange travel to attend EB expo on their own. Those qualifying players who are unable to attend will be replaced by last chance qualified players at the Expo.

Tournaments at EB EXPO

As per last year, tournaments will be a simple top 16 finals bracket that the above events prequalify for.  The remaining spots will be filled by a simple double elimination tournament run at EB Expo with a player cap of 32 players for each.

Depending on scheduling, the KOF/DOA5U tournaments may be completely open entry but any seeding from qualifiers will be honored.
