Match Videos and Streams / MANIFEST's random gaming tournaments
« on: September 28, 2011, 09:50:49 PM »
I went to MANIFEST, Melbourne's Anime Convention. They had a few gaming tournaments and really that was my 'only reason' to go there.
Cosplaying people were just an eyecandy... which is good I guess. I did see a Ryu and a Chun-Li there lol.
I did get to meet some people who recognised me as a Poongko translator which buttered me up.

Shoutouts to Infinity EX who said Hi to me even though I never seen him in RL

Oh and it was SF4 Vanilla, I trolled with Zangief's Medium punch and I lost :D

Lets watch some SBO and play some casuals!!!

Since SBO is a Pay per View session, an Entry fee of $5 will cover your stream fee + venue fee.

Venue will open from 9PM till next day. Come after Couch warriors!

Games in venue will most likely be all Capcom games you could think of that are not as bad as you think.

But the main issue is that the venue (a room) rather I can borrow is small. Very small.
It can barely fit around 10 people and the room would feel like it is full.
(So if the usual people who come to CW come here, than you're all gonna get slow cooked and may have to sit on people's heads)

The venue has 4 BenQ monitors and 2 noob monitors (Only have DVI port) there,
so 3~5 consoles can be brought, I will bring my own.
Most importantly, Bring STICKS DAMMIT!
Also Free Internet.

Address is:
933 Whitehorse Road Box Hill.
GETO INTERNET CAFE

It is opposite to the Tram Stop and walking distance from Timeout and The Hive.
Once you enter, follow along the hall and go all the way back of the internet cafe, enter the back door, down a couple steps and it will be the noisy room to your left.

This is what it looks like inside

Casual Event Announcements / [MELB] This weekend CW replacement *Confirmed*
« on: September 01, 2011, 06:03:57 PM »
*Updated address and how to enter the dungeon

Let's do this then. Firstly I'd like to inform you that there will be a $5 fee for the venue, internet and free can of soft drink.
Sorry I am a cheap Asian man.

Venue will open from Midday till late

You'll be coming if...
1. You have nothing to do this weekend
2. Was expecting to go to CW this weekend
3. You wanna play AE, 3SOE, MvC3 and the likes with friends

But the main issue is that the venue (a room) rather I can borrow is small. Very small.
It can barely fit around 10 people and the room would feel like it is full.
(So if the usual people who come to CW come here, than you're all gonna get slow cooked and may have to sit on people's heads)

If any of you CW goers wanna come to this instead and only a small handful of you are
interested to come, then I will consider booking it on Saturday

If no one is bothered or if too many of you want to show up (lol) then I have no choice but
to let it go.

The venue has 4 BenQ monitors and 2 noob monitors (Only have DVI port) there
so 3~5 consoles can be brought, I will bring my own.
Most importantly, Bring STICKS DAMMIT!
Also Free Internet.

Ok lets see how it goes.

According to the newest Cross Counter episode, Gootecks actually apologised for the Korean translation incident.

Watch from 17:10

So I figured I might try to do a 'correctional' thing just to see what Poongko really said.

00:20 Gootecks: Poongko, congratulations. I know it wasn't... I know you didn't want to get 3rd place. I know you came here to win it.
But, but i have to say, the beating you gave Daigo... I've never seen anybody beat Daigo like that.

00:43 Poongko: mmm... 'Lucky'? I guess I'd say that. Strangely, fighting against Yun... Seth does quite alright against him. I was constantly thinking
about Daigo's Yun game play for the whole (Top 8 ) day. I never thought that it would bring me good results.

01:47 Gootecks: The machine just said that beating the Beast wasn't that hard. I respect that. I've never heard, anybody say that... in my life...
that's awesome. (Sadly this was not the case, due to translation error.) So tell me a little bit about how you prepared for Evo.

02:08 Poongko: So after the Australian Tournament (SS2k11), Evo announced that the tournament will be held on PS3 consoles. I normally played on
the PS3s but I had difficulties because I was playing on XBOX360 (Preparing for SS2K11) and then when I came back to playing on
the PS3, it felt like the sync was not there (frame/response lag), so I was concerned about it. I thought it's going to be hard to adjust
for this tournament. Also just like the Australian Tournament, this tournament (Evo) also has a lot of strong players. I didn't know how
well I could compete. I practised just like I always do by going online but I had trouble adjusting back to the PS3.

2:58 Gootecks: So, what were you thinking when you were playing Fuudo?

3:10 Poongko: Normally, the character Fei Long, gives a lot of trouble to me Seth. He is one of the characters where my type of game play would not work on
most of the time. Fuudo is a well known top Fei Long player in Japan, but Mago was the one who plays Fei Long that I feared the most so I
did not anticipate playing against Fuudo. So I did not feel any pressure when I was playing with him, only due to my miscalculation on the
Health of Seth, and allowing 1 mistake cost me the match.

4:26 Gootecks: What's next? What's next for you.

4:32 Poongko: I will keep practising as usual. Also there is going to be  another tournament schedule which is God's Garden on August.
I am trying to participate for it. There are some people who want to team up with me back in Korea, 3 people including myself.
And for the future, due to participating in the international tournaments, hopefully there would be a good sponsor who can support me.

5:29 Poongko: I want to say this also. Next year there will be many more Fighting game titles. I am mostly looking forward to SF x TK, Re-balanced AE, I am
not too sure if I want to keep playing Seth or not but since I played him so much I might keep playing him in the end. Finally the KoF XIII,
not really confident with it but I would like to play it.

============================================================================

I am not in a position to correct someone or be a Korean Troll, but I personally thought the translation was a little off and really it was just the 'Daigo' part
where I guess the viewers might have had a misunderstanding but everything else was fine... I guess :P
