Around 1994 I entered a console Street Fighter 2 tournament at the Glass House in Melbourne. Being a console tournament there were no joysticks The event was some kind of small trade show / tournament.
I assume it was 94ish because I remember it was the first time I saw Super Street Fighter 2 arcade version. I heard of this tournament through High Tech Game Center which had a shop in Greensborough and one in the city somewhere. They had a stall at the event.
I have some vague recollection of a company called Indigo marketing being the organizers but I'm not really sure. I just remember there was a SF ripoff character on the venue guide with long black hair wearing a blue gi and the name of the company on his outfit.
All I remember of the tournament was that I was meant to play at 7pm and ended up waiting around till 11pm, I played one match, which I managed to win and then I was asked to come back the next day, which I didn't. I was young, my mum took me there and I didn't really want to go back the next day.
Somebody must remember this event or the store High Tech Game Center?, how about Mega Madness in Macleod?, what about the strip poker machines that used to be in a small arcade along the same row of shops as Box Hill Playtime

.
There should be plenty of drug addict stories from the people that used to frequent White House
