Better than it a lap full of molten copper, silicon and plastic, eh?  I sometimes miss the old days when they would just power through and release the magic smoke.

This is a great idea - thanks for hosting it aadm.  Perhaps we should move this to a different thread since it could generate a lot of responses?  I hope it becomes a regular event - everyone needs a chance to see renzuo destroying me.

ggs yesterday dude!

You too, mate.  I see you're in Brisbane, too.  Might get to play you offline some time.  I need offline exp but I haven't hit the Brisbane scene yet.

Got my tush handed to me by bksama a couple of days ago.  Worked me with Seth and Cody.  I can really use the matchup practice against those two.  They're up there with Cammy and Viper on my "I'm free to these characters" list.  GGs.

Provider: Telstra Bigpong
Plan: Cable Ultimate - the DOCSIS 3.0 plans (price varies with quota and bundles and reward systems and whatnot)
Location: Brisbane (I find I get better online games with folks in Mel/Syd than in Bris - I think our connections are going down south and then back up again)
Speed: Testing on speedtest and AARNET generally gives me 95Mbit down, 2.5Mbit up and 7ms latency.  I'm keen to see if I can get it over the official 100Mbit one day, since it is actually a 120Mbit connection, they just don't tell you that.

Also, if I remember correctly, my parents' ISP (think it was iinet) had some gaming-specific connection optimisations that reduced latency at the expense of a bit of bandwidth. I'm on Internode and AFAIK there is no such option available.

Yeah I used to be on iinet ADSL 2+ and used this.  They referred to it as the Gaming mode from memory.  Essentially it was near full bandwidth utilisation but with interleaving disabled.  They warn that you could experience stability problems, but I found it worked for me, though I was about 50m from the exchange.  Line sync back then was around 20.5 Mbit.  I think the latency was around 15ms.

Name : Luke

Gamertag : HeathenPope (gfwl), Th3rap1st__ (PSN)

Age : 35 (I think the oldest of the people who have been man enough to declare it)

Nationality : Aussie of Welsh descent

State : QLD (Brisbane)

Main : Chun Li

Secondary : Akuma (It's awful)

Salt Levels : Anywhere between non-existent and high.  Knowing I'm doing stupid things or just missing easy punishes or combos increases my salination.  So mostly it's self-directed, but lag and Blanka's lame hitbox also boost it.

History : Being ancient, I was there at the beginning of SF.  Sadly I haven't abused this advantage and all the kids are better than me.  I played SF2 and MK1 and 2 back in the day, but I was never really aware of any competitive scene.  Played a little Dark Stalkers and Killer Instinct 1/2.  I more or less missed the entire ST and SF3 era and only got back into it with SF4's console release.

Achievements : I came second and then first in a couple of casual MK2 tournaments with a very small player pool.

Playing Times : Evenings after work and random times on weekends.  Mostly on gfwl, since latency on PSN is attrocious.  Will be on xbl soon.

Self Proclaimed skills : Being old but persisting in playing SF even though my dexterity and reactions are crap.  Making new players feel good by beating me.

Weakness : Execution, matchup knowledge of any non-vanilla character, execution, hardly spend any time in training, execution, little offline experience, execution.  As a side note, I always try to play above what I consider my actual level of skill, so I can do really well and then mess something up and bomb badly.

Extra note: I never ragequit.  I've had some dcs for a while due to a network fault on my cable, so apologies for that.  It seems to be fixed now (touch wood).  I'm kinda picky about lag - if I leave after one match it's probably because I found it too laggy.  I'm usually trying to improve so laggy matches are a waste of time, imo.
