Internode users - a reminder
« on: January 27, 2014, 11:09:19 AM »
I'm an Internode customer and recently I switched from a regular ADSL connection to Naked DSL. I just noticed yesterday that this process actually reset a lot of my Internode portal settings back to their defaults, which are actually very speed inefficient and invoke a lot more lag for gaming.

For those of you who have recently undergone a connection change with them (or perhaps signed up, or have never customised these settings) be sure to tweak your connection settings accordingly in their customer portal. To do this:

1.) Visit http://internode.on.net and login
2.) Under the 'services' panel select 'Internode ADSL2+ Profiles' - https://secure.internode.on.net/myinternode/sys2/profilechange
3.) Make the preferred connection optimisation

Naturally for gaming, you want to select low latency. I found that my connection had defaulted to ADSL1 for "high reliability" - changing this to "ADSL2+ Low Latency" made a significant difference that I noticed immediately. Speedtest.net ping responses for example dropped from 18ms to a consistent 7 ms. Not bad.

I'm genuinely curious to see how this effects my connection to you folks in WA. If you see me online give me a shout for some games if you have room in your lobbies. In the past WA has been utterly unplayable for me (whereas New Zealand and Queensland have been completely fine) so I'd like to know if this change helps.
So keep your bankroll lottery eat your salad day deathbed motorcade.

What are you on Steam Gamogo? I'll add you if you want.

I remember we were a bit laggy from XBL days.

Thanks for letting us know - I recently moved into a new place a few months back and went with Naked DSL from Internode. Just checked online and my profile was on "ADSL2+ High Reliability", have now moved to "ADSL2+ Low Latency". I was a Telstra Cable customer for years and had no idea ADSL afforded different profiles. Looking forward to testing it out tonight.
