This is what I meant by trying to get your point across on the internet. I'm more then happy to discuss this matter in person tomorrow with any who wants to clear it up. Cause right now it doesn't seem like we're making any progress.

Myself, you and many others play one character, so choosing a different character in tournament might not make sense to you. Whether it's for fun, to be comfortable, whatever, it's nice to have it as an option. Just like how people like to have "Double Jeopardy" as an option. Might not use it, but it's there if you need/want to.

Just remember this.  You started off with saying that Sol and Mole won't be happy with one character rule.  I somehow have difficulty reading it as they are representing all the Casual Players who enter the tourney for FUN.

I said that as it was the first thing that came to my mind when I read it. Really has nothing to with it.

Enough political BS for me, I will just be a player and nothing else.

What's so political, just voicing our opinions. At the moment, we either can't get our point across over the net, or we have different views of the community. No big deal. Not sure why people are getting so worked up about a discussion. :P

On another note;

Anyone who is coming tomorrow, and has a microphone: Can you please bring it with you?..
If you are, please PM me. Don't want to have 5 people bring a mic. :P

Hey Guys,

I need to let you know that there has been a slight change to our prize structure.

Before I say anything else, it is not something that is bad for the community, so you can put down your torches and pitchforks.  ;)

At GC we have special Time Cards, which as it name implies runs off time. With the time cards you are only allowed to play arcade games, those are games that donít give out prizes (i.e. claw games) and games that donít give out tickets. Also newly released games are usually not on time play either until a few months after it has been in the venue, at the time of posting this includes Street Fighter as well.

Now initially, our idea was to give every entrant a $10 Cash Card as both an incentive to participate in the tournament and to reward them with some credits so they can practice before the next one.
However, instead of giving out the $10 Cash Card we will now give every entrant a 30 Minute Time Card and in doing so we will also be switching Street Fighter over time play.

Now just to let you guys know this isnít 100% confirmed. Just earlier today when Dennie and I were speaking with the CEOís they decided to not give out the Cash Cards but instead give out the Time Cards with Street Fighter NOT on time play.

What this meant was that players who participated in the tournament would not be able to get any games of Street Fighter afterwards, essentially defeating the entire purpose of our original idea.

The reason they wanted to do this was because they had various concerns which Iím not allowed to go into details with, so in light of this, tomorrow morning Dennie and I will speak to the CEOís again to try and get Street Fighter switched over to time play.

Iím not sure what the final outcome will be, but having spoken to one of our CEOís earlier this evening he seemed happy with this alternate approach. There may be a slight compromise in terms of flexibility as once the time card is activated it canít be paused, so it definitely wonít be as convenient. However, I feel that this is the best outcome that we can hope to achieve at the present time.

There are other specific details in regards to how the Time Cards will work and what its value will be compared to a Cash Card, however you guys can rest assured that Dennie and I will be pushing to obtain the best possible solution for both the players and the business.

Right now Iím thinking that the Time Cards will have more value should the players decide to play for a long session, where as the Cash Cards will still be kept handy for those who just want to have a few games.

As I said, everything is still up in the air at the moment; there are a tonne of thoughts just flooding into my head as I try to think what our best approach could be. Dennie and I will be speaking to the CEOís tomorrow morning and hopefully we can reach an agreement which is ideal for both parties.

So for the time being, the prize structure is still to be confirmed. I can confidently say that Top 3 will still get Cash Prizes and Cash Cards, however for everyone else we will have to wait and see.

I wanted to let you guys know about this as soon as possible because I didn't want to hide anything from you guys and I definately didn't want to spring it to you on the day, in case things don't actually go our way.

I hope this hasnít deterred anyone from entering tomorrowís tournament, I really hope to see all of you there so we can show the CEOís just how strong our fighting game community is and why they should definitely be investing in and supporting our causes.

Thanks a lot guys.

Don't stress too much Chris. I know what it's like to run an event, and you are always going to come across some hiccups/hurdles.
I'm sure you are doing everything you can to fix the situation.

And you can count on us still showing up and supporting the event.  :D

Edit: Another option might be to drop the price of entry to $5 if the card idea falls through?..
Just throwing ideas out there.

For those driving and want to get there a little earlier.
I think the Melbourne Convention/Exhibition center has parking for $5 if you enter after 4pm. You got till 6am the next day.

It's either $5 or $10, not a 100% sure, but just throwing it out there.  :D

I seeeee....

So it's $5 after 4pm at the convention Center.
$10 after 6pm at the Exhibition center.

If you are going to come after 6pm, then best to park for free.
But if you come early, convention center sounds good.

Hmmm... can park right near GC for around $10. Depending on how long the tournament takes.
$6 for 6 hours and $2 for any extra hour.

8 Hours = $10

Yesterday I parked on Clarke St @ 5:30, as it was 1 hour parking till 6:30pm for free. There's also pay parking on that street too, that might be cheaper then Crown or MCEC. I'm not sure, I didn't check it out as I got lucky with a spot within throwing distance of Crown ;D

Hey Guys,

Just a quick update, we'll still be giving out the $10 Cash Cards tonight for all entrants, whether or not that will be the case for future tournaments is still to be determined.

Each card has a unique serial number which allows us to track their usage. If you guys really want to show the CEO's at GC that we're serious about Street Fighter, hang on to those card and whenever you want to add more money to it just ask the attendant at the counter to put it on that card.

That way we will be able to show the CEO's that, one, the $10 Cash Card incentive is indeed bringing players back to GC to play Street Fighter and, two, we as players are more than happy to pay for our credits provided we have a well serviced and regularly maintained setup.

Once this has been established to them, it will be that much easier to make proposals in the future for additional cabinets and bigger more awesome events.

The power is in your hands and you guys can rest assured that Dennie, myself and the other team members here at GC will be along side you pushing for greater things for the Melbourne Street Fighter Community.

Thanks a lot guys.

See you all tonight.
