MVC3 - General Questions and Answers
« on: February 17, 2011, 12:55:18 PM »
I like how on SRK they have 'general' threads to capture a wide range of quick questions and answers in some areas.

As such, here's one for MVC3 which might help contain a lot of small odd and ends that will no doubt start getting asked as more people start hammering away at MVC3.

2 attack buttons at the same time while blocking non assists. It's not really a parry, its a pushblock.

Anyone seen the strat guide available anywhere that's not online?

Do you have to time it right or just press it whilst blocking anytime?

Not really strict timing. As long as you press it while in blockstun you should be fine.

you can press it any time while in block stun, you can also mash on it, example:
ryu does his shinkuu hadouken hyper combo and you block, while you're blocking, you can mash the crap out of the two attack buttons.

it's good for pushing opponents away when they do a block string on you, so you get breathing space. but just remember, if you try to advance guard and the opponent hasn't thrown anything out, your attack will come out and you could potentially eat a counter hit into combo.

Indeed. I found myself pressing it early as the opponent jumped in and ate a few j.S or j.H

Can someone tell me why you would want to pushblock while blocking a beam super?

Let's say you're playing Wolverine or somebody similar and you want to get in.

Doesn't pushblock push the opponent even further from you?

Pushing them to the corner if they're using a hyper you can't punish on block anyway? Can't say I'd be able to think of any other reason why.

sorry mutton, that was a bad example lol.

better example:
chun is doing her BnB block string ending with lightning legs, push block the legs and punish with rocket punch xx hsf!
but, if you don't push block the legs, she can apply more pressure and if she lands those legs, you are going to eat a very nice combo

Just takes some getting use to. Might take a day, might take 3.
I was going to change to a custom layout, but decided to stick with default and I'm happy I did.

But in the end, it's whatever you're comfortable with.
