These 2 SHIT TALK EPISODES make me laugh so much. SO SO MUCH.
[rant]One thing I want to point out, I don't like some of the mentality displayed in this episode. The mentality I'm talking about is: "Johnny, Tom and ToXY went to EVO. The rest went to Vegas." If you guys already believe you're ONLY going there to lose then of course you've already lost. And you wonder why your scene (and I don't mean Sydney only but Australia wide) struggles to get better because you're always hindered by "What's the point? Johnny is going to win anyway..."
I know what I'm saying probably applies to some/few of you but never the less it's still poor thinking. One of the reasons the Tekken scene in Sydney is at the level where it's at now because when we had a world class player come live in Sydney we didn't give up and be like: "He's so Korean. How will we EVER beat him?" No. We tried our best to learn from him and improve as much as we can. And the result? It just solidified our resolve even more that outside of Japan and Korea, WE (not Sydney but AUSTRALIA) are the next best country in Tekken.
Excuse the rant but the last thing I want to see is ANY AUSTRALIAN SCENE being damaged and the worst thing about is that the damage is self inflicted.[/rant]
No Excuses needed, I agree whole heartedly with what you said. If you have the mentality I am going to lose then you are already setting yourself back, but we also have to be realistic. I can’t speak for anyone else but my goal for going to Evo was not to go 0 and 2 in SF4, Marvel and to play as much ST as I possibly could. I went 2 – 2 in SF4 which I am pretty proud of because I have a hard time taking SF4 seriously. I am a huge scrub in SF4. I didn’t play marvel as it was on at the same time as the High rollers ST tournament in which I went 3 – 2. I am pretty disappointed in my ST performance, I should have done better. I choked big time against a Ryu player which sent me to loses. I had to fight Arturo Sanchez and I got beat pretty badly, mainly because I have never fought that kind of Sim player before. But going to Evo has motivated me to figure out why GGPO has such horrible imput delay on my PC (still working on it) and to start playing ST online more.
Again I don’t want to speak for people who went over for Evo but I am pretty sure most of them had their own goals that I hope they achieved during the trip. Also please remember that going to Evo is a lot more than just going to play in the main tournament there is heaps to see and do especially this year with the great side panels they had, the sponsor booths, the BYO section etc…
On a final note this show was a bit more serious than the pilot episode due to some of the topics that we had on the agenda and we will return to a more wacky show next time.
Also what Loki said in the post above.
