Is this game dead in Australia online?
« on: July 06, 2012, 12:20:14 AM »
Hey everyone, I'm a big fan of fighting games here and take them pretty seriously and try to play and focus on at least one fighting game at all times. After a solid break from gaming I'm just coming back now and have since picked up SSFIVAE (it was cheap) and have put some solid hours into that.

Saying that though, I'd like to grab UMvC3 as well because I remember (the original) just being a lot of fun with friends and such. The problem is though, is that it's not often I can have friends over so a lot of my playtime relies on playing against other Aussies online.

Here is the problem, I've actually heard that UMvC3 is dead online for us Aussies and that it's almost like no one even plays it. So what the deal? Is it true that there's no one online? Any reason why that is? I personally don't see why SSFIVAE gets so many more players because this game would seem to be much more casual friendly.

So what do you guys think? If you can calm my worries then I'll gladly pick up this game tomorrow but I'm really doubting it right now and figure I should just stick with SF.

Thanks!

Hey Snapbackd. I don't think that UMVC3 is dead. You may not get the same amount of players you expect from SSF4AE2012 online in Aus but you just gotta look for the right people. Try hitting up the online hookup threads and add some of those players. I just think that most people prefer to play Marvel offline rather than online because it can be real frustrating at times when lag kicks in and you drop a combo or some games just become unplayable. Another solution is see if you can get in contact with your local community/meetups for games if possible. You can always hit me up for some games online unless I'm already playing another title lol

I just took about a month off from Marvel, but now I'm back! Marvel is nowhere near dead, and if you care to add me on PSN, I'd be more than happy to prove it. :D

It was one of the lowest lag matches of Marvel I've ever had, which made the several Zero OCBs all the more humiliating. To be fair, I'd grown accustomed to "playing underwater", so I was doing the inputs for my Dorm hit confirms halfway through the air dash.  :-[

GGs indeed! :)

Yup, you can still find people online relatively easy thanks to the hookup thread mentioned earlier :)

There is a played named Pants3000 who regularly hosts lobbies (almost every night), they are mostly NZ matches so if you are in Aus then i would try not to take it too seriously :P

I tend to play almost every night, until i make tea and stuff myself so much i fall into a food coma and conk out haha

If you ever want some games shoot me a message on xbox!
Cai Zhen: will you switch to another game or another character? You mained Honda for 18 years already, no, almost 20 years.
KUSUMONDO: Sometimes I see some people pick sagat in vanilla Street Fighter 4, and in AE they will switch to Yun. When I think of that,I think I won.

I've played Pants before, I think he runs a pretty damn good Vergil?

Recently however, whenever I invite him to player matches or when he invites me, it never connects. Shame, I'm not sure if its something wrong with my connection, but we can't get games going..  :(
