I apologize for probably posting this a bit too late, but there's a Game Versus KOFXIII CLIMAX stream happening right now. Unfortunately, the stream on my end is inconsistent but you can probably enjoy the archive. If it is not archived, you can check out the latest archive dated on the 15th of July at the very least.

This is different from the teams tournament that they do on Saturdays. Generally, these streams are referred to as 'match meet with live broadcast commentary'.

May 2nd 2012, Game Versus KOFXIII archive (first KOFXIII CLIMAX stream) - Matches with commentary: Part 1, Part 2, Part 3.

May 9th 2012, Game Versus KOFXIII archive - Matches with commentary:

July 15th 2012, Game Versus KOFXIII archive - Singles tournament with comentary:

Hey Zuzu, what was the notation for that Mr Karate combo you were tellin' me about the other day? I know what it looks like, and it looks really simple, but I've been having a lot of trouble hitting the D,df,f A/C after the air hlf frd B. Doesn't wanna work out for me :|

Pretty sure I'm gonna fuck most of those characters off for YSB anyway though, and just stick with Andy, Vice, Clark, Claw and Ash.

It is easily the hardest/most annoying part of Karate. I have no problems performing this relatively close to the corner after one rep but midscreen is annoying. lol

st.C, f+B [HD] st.C, f+B, [qcf+A (HDC) dp+C~A+B, hcf,uf+B] x4, qcb,hcf+AC

In the corner, you can substitute tiger knee Hien (hcf+B) for his A version of his FB. It does make the combo easier to time. If you do decide to go with tiger knee Hien, from my experience the timing is more lenient in the corner than it is in midscreen.

I like doing tiger knee Hien 'cause it looks cooler but it has messed up my timing for the midscreen HD combo. :)

You can try practicing the drive cancel first before doing the full HD combo.

st.C, f+B xx qcf+A (DC) dp+C~A+B, hcf,uf+B, qcf+A (DC)...

I practised this extensively before practicing the HD combo. The thing with me is that if I land the qcf+A after the tiger knee Hien during HD mode, I can get the full HD combo starting from the corner, no problem. Holding down the A input in my qcf+A helps sometimes.

Sadly, I could do the midscreen HD combo 7/10 times before I slacked off and started doing random shit in training mode.  ;D ;D ;D
All you need to do is practise more. :D

Edit: Alternatively, if you don't mind losing out a bit of damage, omitting the f+B after the HD activation makes the combo so much easier. It does 6 less points of damage starting from st.C and finishing it with NM.

Also, it seems like MADKoF13's youtube channel is starting to upload videos after 2 months and so weeks of inactivity.

If you put your time and effort into any characters, they can be strong, except Robert and Athena (they just suck…).

Don't use Robert Cerillos! ;D

Whoa. I knew that console tactics existed... it just didn't know the name until now. They can be so distracting and, in some cases, they can make you lose the game. Very informative article, thanks Will.

Robert sucks? But I wanted to play with him.  :'(

Hmmm I guess Robert and Athena do have difficult combos, set ups, and their damage output isn't great for Bnb's, but they can still be really annoying at a high level

So Hwa's A version Dragon Back Breaker is a 1F throw right ?

So I did the back breaker to Robert low D, and kara cancel into his command throw and won.

I don't understand what the deal is there, I am unable to find move information for Ryuren Geneikyaku, I didn't think the move was that good.

Any ideas ??

CafeID streaming on Twitch.tv as I type. Daltong vs. Lacid at the moment. It's around 4-5AM over there so they're going hard out.

I was having a play around in training with King and Kyo to decide who I should continue with, and i think I'm leaning towards Kyo. Once I found that I can use Cr. C instead of st. C for his jump in combo into that double low kick it was so much easier. I found that the timing required for Kings basic combo was much tighter than Kyo's and I probably would drop it more often.

I'll stick to cheese with Maxima for now but i'll see what's best to use for Kyo and work on getting more consistency with Billy's BnB combos.

I would recommend watching a lot of the Japanese Kyo's and observing his neutral game. In training mode he appears to be quite straight forward but it really helps to know the correct application of all his tools to open people up. st.a / st.d are sick pokes for stopping pressure but it's really important to know what button to hit at what range (my kyo got blown up last YSB because I didn't know)

fun fact:

Duo Lon c.lp goes under Kyo's sf.D

Note - I suppose that makes Duo Lon a little broken but he does no damage. Thats another thing I like about this game. Some characters have weird shit like this but winning with these traits aren't enough for them to win all day.
