Random Discussion / Accommodation in Perth
« on: July 28, 2014, 11:52:11 AM »
I am visiting a client in the upcoming weeks and I was wondering if anyone could give me a bit of a low down on where I could stay.

They are based at Nedland so I would like to find a hotel/service apartment around the area. From my initial searches Subiaco seems to have a few places I can stay. Is that close to Nedland? Are the two relatively close to the airport?

Thank you for reading.

Buying and Selling / [SOLD] WTS Hori REAL ARCADE PRO [PS2]
« on: April 25, 2013, 12:18:13 AM »
Selling Real Arcade Pro for PS2. $50. Used it once or twice since I got it during second wave release back wayyyyyyyyyyyy when.

Ideally the buyer would want to meet during YSB in May.

Let me know :)

But wait folks there's more. Throw in an additional $10 and you can get a Hori Fighting Stick 2 (for PS2). This stick had turbo before it became the norm.

Shout outs
Event organisers/sponsors - again people that have never put any time towards organising/running a tournament does not know how much time and effort is spent on these kind of events. There were a lot of red staff shirts around over the weekend so if you ever see them after this weekend make sure to give them a pat on the back!

Australians that made it to finals day - with so many killers about it wasn't going to be an easy feat to make it out of some pools let alone past semis and all the way in to top 8.

CQ 6th floor - the NZ/Sydney/Perth crew that let us hang in there during random parts of the weekend letting us to get some games in during down time.

Sydney players - it wasn't as strong of a showing compared to last year but we still put up a good fight.

Brisbane players - having such a large number of competitors making it past their umvc3 pools and in to semis. Shame dudes had to play each other in semis to try to make it to top 8 - myself included.

Melbourne players - great to see those that weren't able to make it to OHN it was a shame didn't get to hang out as much due to so many tournaments and pools being played out at the same time. Don't even think I got in any casuals with anyone (with the exception of Muttons) outside of tournament lol.

Perth players - bunch of farmers you guys are haha. Nice to have met some of you guys for the first time and those usual faces always makes me feel comfortable in these tournament settings. Much props to Mr Lim (and Genxa from Sydney) for the tips (which I never took lol) for Amiyu. <3 to Valkyran for rubbing my shoulders the right way hahahah.

NZ players - you dudes had another strong showing like last year. GG on the team MM sorry it took so long to play the whole thing out but hope it was hype for you guys as I found it :).

Players that had to play me - sorry for the fraud teams / tactics I'm just a simple man trying to get by with his TV shows. If we played some longer sets you guys would've figured me out no doubt haha.

Internationals I met - the Friday night at CQ was loltastic hahahaha. Sidebetting was getting a bit intense too towards the end of the event :o

Brisbane boys - for dealing with a control freak like me in the room haha

Perth boys - not being able to properly have a social chat with you guys after the nights. It was good having breakfast with you all and many thanks for the voucher at pancakes!

(Perth) dk - I said I would introduce you to some of the Perth boys and I never got around to it -_-

NZ boys - ditto for the above

ArnoldDesu - I was so tired on the flight I had COMPLETELY forgot you were on my same flight and I didn't realise I forgot to wait for you till I reached my pick up point :(

I know a few things were lost or maybe misplaced (equipment etc) so please post here so hopefully we can re-unite you with your belongings.

If you lost anything please let us know. And please don't be dumb and say you lost money in a money match/side bet or a cabinet.

So seeing as OHN is covering Fri / Sat / Sun this year we can do something every one of those nights.

Friday I imagine people would want a quiet one so they can be ready for the tournament but there is a bar at the ground floor of 99 On York so can have a few drinks there.

Saturday would be for those that weren't skilled enough to make it for the Sunday finals, can drown our saltiness with some alcohol. I propose we go back to 333 again simply because it's relatively close to the venue. Open to suggestions if anyone else has any. I know on the opposite side of the same block as 99 on York there are a few watering holes as well.

Sunday would be the karaoke don't need to say anymore lol.

PS. most of these are for 18+ outside of karaoke ... good thing most of us here are old as fck now :( haha.

Match Videos and Streams / EVO 2011 Videos of Australia Players
« on: August 04, 2011, 01:02:45 AM »

(reposting from blog)

Check out some matches bbbenson was able to record while at the EVO hall.

Featured below is a video of humanbomb against MVC3 winner Viscant in AE; and the match NefeliousG had to win to proceed to semis. To watch the remaining videos please go to the OzHadou YouTube Channel

Hopefully we see some videos from our Melbourne players when they return!

Looking for people who might live around these areas* that want to level-up through a series of console sessions. Basically the idea is to level up through discussion over games played and which areas we can improve. Just straight up casuals is fine but we would help each other out a lot if we exchanged constructive criticism.

Time: am open to suggestion regarding WHEN but Sundays are the best times for myself.
Venue: also open to suggestions but my place (Botany) is always available.
Games: SSF4AE / MVC3 .... I have a decent library of other fighting games as well if people want but it's mostly going to be concentrating on existing (and soon to-be-released) popular 2D fighting games.

So if you're an online warrior, or a duo of training partners seeking some offline experience wanting to improve (or give training advice) please reply!

* Pagewood Maroubra Kingsford Kensington Botany Mascot Alexandria Rosebery etc

PS. I am not trolling. Only reply if you're serious.

I did something similar last year when we had a team going to EVO. This is basically a thread stating who is going to be competing at EVO and what games/pools they might be entering. If you want to leave any encouraging words for our boys please do so here! And any updates about their progress during the weekend in this thread!

With all these "send x to EVO" threads I can't keep up with who is actually going or not. So if you are going please post here with a list of games, and pools assignments so we can keep track of your guys at EVO! I'm guessing the games below until people can confirm.

edit: now with pools and (American west coast) times! Note these pools could change later, this happened last year.

bbbenson (NSW) - SSF4AE (pool 1 OUT) / MVC3 (Pool 1 OUT)
Bugsimus (VIC) - SSF4AE (Pool 64 OUT)

Usual post-OHN celebrations with singing and drinking!

Seeing as OHN will finish up around 6pm this year on the Sunday we can probably go for a dinner + singing package at Mizuya. They got a wide range of food you can choose from and alcohol is part of the package (so please bring IDs).

We will be celebrating Tom's (NefeliousG) and my birthday that weekend so we got a special excuse to go.

As Mizuya is strict with their reservations "entry" will be closed Friday 27 May. I will also be collecting (non-refundable) deposits from those attending during OHN. Sorry but need to cover myself as I've been burnt before :(

Please let me know if you guys are interested!

Time and Venue
7pm Sunday 29 May @ Mizuya (located below Galaxy World George St)

Entry fee: $30~35 per person for 3 hours (it's singing + food + drinks this is value!)
Everyone must at least sing ONE song (even if it's a duet)

1. hebretto
2. Tom
3. Tyrone
4. Jim
5. CactusDragon
6. Madenka AU

Just putting this out there. Outside of streamed matches (if we manage to get that set up and running), nothing will be recorded officially on the Saturday. We will have two cameras on hand so if you want to record a match of yours it can be done on request with prior notice. These can then be sent to you personally and you can do whatever you want with it later. Alternatively they can be uploaded onto my personal YouTube account.

All of the top 16 for mvc3 and ssf4 on the Sunday will be recorded and uploaded to the official OzHadou YouTube account. I kindly ask that everyone refrain from recording any of the top 16 matches, or at least refrain from uploading any footage till it's been done so on the official channel.
